UNPLUGGED IN THE PARK HOTEL - 12 April 07

We weren't sure if Rak could do this gig as it was Mark's birthday and a night on the tiles was calling. But they set their alcoholism aside to give us a great performance at the Park Hotel.

Playing a mix of their own songs and a few covers, Rak are a band with a lot of potential. The original songs are well written and performed well. I first heard Bad Guy a few Unplugged nights ago and it stuck in my mind like a roll of cellotape covered in jam. Then they went one better with Greg (He only has one leg) - a kind of sing-a-long story that had everyone in fits of laughter.

So thanks to Rak for celebrating Mark's birthday with us and giving us a great set. They should be playing somewhere at the Wivenhoe May Festival so get down and see them.

Ed from Some Best Friend started things off nicely
with some of his own songs.

Mick got us swinging - oobeedooh

Steve and Sheila belted out a few cover versions.

Anna and Anthony proved popular with the crowd and
turned in a great performance for their debut set.

Rak got us underway with a mix of covers and orginal songs.

Rak's own material was a big hit, the memorable Bad Guy
was only surpassed by Greg (He only had one leg)

Phil was convinced to play later on.
